Santa is Coming!

Santa will be at the old Vienna Ferry Toll House at the intersection of Middle and Race Streets. Make sure you stop by to visit the historic building and Santa as you make your way around town.

History Comes Alive in the Gov. Hicks House

The Dorchester Historic Society is bringing this portrait and Governor Thomas Holliday Hicks memorabilia from their collection which you can see at 121 Market Street. This house belonged to Governor Hicks before he became Governor of Maryland during the Civil War. He is credited with keeping Maryland in the Union. Learn more from the expert – dressed in period garb!

You Can See an Old-Fashioned Button Machine

There are lots of cool things in the Vienna Heritage Museum on Race Street, not the least of which is the working button machine. You can buy your tickets at this museum on the evening of the event too and then board the FREE tram to explore Vienna.

There is a Holiday Music Event at St. Paul’s

Although St. Paul’s Episcopal Church was decommissioned this year, it will be open for an evening of music. Check out this historic building, listen to Christmas music, and then head back out for more holiday merry-making.

From cookies, to hot chocolate, to a “Smoking Bishop,” the residents who are opening their homes will have light fare for you to sample. Come learn about old traditions and new ones all while celebrating the history of this little town on the Nanticoke. Who knows, you might even make new friends!

More than 1500 Luminaries will Line the Streets

This is the 44th annual luminary event in Vienna. Presented by the Vienna Historical Society and the Town of Vienna, this is a holiday event that is fun for the entire family which you don’t want to miss!

You Can Still Get Tickets!

Parking is behind the John Smith Discovery Center Museum. The Vienna Heritage Museum will be open and will sell tickets to the event if you didn’t already get them online! You can also drop $5 at any house and pick up a ticket.

There is a FREE Tram

Volunteers will run a golf-cart tram around town all evening to help you get from place to place and enjoy the luminaries that will light the streets of our town. Hop aboard for some interesting tidbits of information and to rest your feet.

You will be the First to See the Historic House Signs

101 Race Street

The Vienna Historical Society has put together 10 signs for houses along Water, Race, and Middle Streets. More are coming, but you will be the first to check out the signs!

Nothing costs only $5 these days and we are talking 3 solid hours of family fun where you can visit Santa, listen to Twas the Night Before Christmas, talk to a historic re-enactor dressed in period garb who can tell you a lot about Maryland’s Civil War Governor in the Governor’s house, sing along with holiday favorites in a historic church, and see lots of cool historic stuff in the Vienna Heritage Society museum.
